SPECIAL ARTS FESTIVAL
GARLAND'S FIRST
HELD NOV. 10, 2007
GISD SPECIAL EVENTS CENTER ARENA


The first Special Arts Festival in Garland was held on November 10, 2007 at the Special Events Center.  A collaboration between Garland ISD and the Achievement Center of Texas, people with disabilities were given an opportunity to perform, exhibit their art, and participate in activities designed to inspire them to try new things and develop hidden talents.  For more information and pictures of the event and performances, please visit our website at:  www.specialartsfestival.com.



THE FIRST ANNUAL HARVEY MARTIN MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

The first Harvey Martin Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit the Achievement Center of Texas was held on October 8, 2007 at Brookhaven Country Club  with a shot gun start at 8 a.m.  The event was sponsored by Berry Family Services and the event benefitted the children and adults of the Achievement Center of Texas.

The first Harvey Martin Humanitarian Award was presented to the Martin family by friend and former teammate, Michael Downs, at a ceremony following the golf tournament and luncheon at Brookhaven Country Club.  

Accepting the Harvey Martin Humanitarian Award for the Martin Family was DeVincent Martin, son of Harvey Martin.    

A beautiful new red Mustang was provided by Troy Aikman and Troy Aikman Ford for a golfer making a hole in one.  

Mitch Carr of KLUV radio's Morning Team announced the winners of the golf tournament.  Pat Nichols chaired the event.
