DonorBridge Brings Nonprofit Data to the Masses
Dallas Giving Day
General Description
May 20, 2009
Dallas Giving Day celebrates the contributions of Dallas’ more than 8,000 nonprofit organizations. These groups work tirelessly to improve our city by feeding, sheltering, clothing, teaching and enriching our community in countless ways.
Created by Communities Foundation of Texas in partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Management [link: cnmdallas.org] and with support from The Dallas Foundation [link: dallasfoundation.org], the inaugural Dallas Giving Day in 2009 marks the launch of DonorBridge, a new online resource to connect nonprofits with potential donors.
Through Dallas Giving Day, we want to shine a light on the important role nonprofit organizations play in our region. Many are counter-cyclical, meaning when the economy worsens, the demand for services rises. And when the economy is down, donations are down.
Dallas Giving Day encourages the residents of North Texas to open their hearts and wallets in support of their neighbors by giving to worthy nonprofit organizations.
As an added incentive, donations made through donorbridgetx.org on May 20 will be matched, dollar for dollar, until the matching fund of $200,000 provided by Communities Foundation of Texas and The Dallas Foundation is exhausted.

New online program makes researching and giving to charities easier, more effective
DonorBridge is a dynamic new online resource that will make mutual connections between nonprofit organizations, donors and supporters. It will feature hundreds of straightforward profiles of Dallas-area nonprofit organizations. As a result, gathering reliable information, making charitable gifts and addressing community needs will become simpler.
DonorBridge will publicly launch on May 20, 2009. For more information about this project, visit www.cftexas.org/donorbridge.
